Four Months Old!/ Cuatro Meses!
Mila and Lucca turned 4 months last Saturday! We had our 4 month appointment, (and shots :P), with the pediatrician on Tuesday, and everything looks great. Lucca weighs 14 lbs. now and Mila is at 13 lbs., 10 oz.-- all with exclusive breastfeeding, I have to add! No formula, no solids yet... I'm still so proud! Here are some of the things that the babies can do now:
* Smile and laugh at people who talk to them... and sometimes just at life in general. They really know how to appreciate the little things in life, like the panda bear on the play mat. :)
* Reach for and occasionally grab objects, (mostly Mommy's hair and earrings and Daddy's chest hair-- OUCH!!!). Thanks to Grammy, Mila now has a blankie that she LOVES to carry around. (Shameless plug-- You can get one just like it at http://www.grammystouch.com/ !)
* Slobber A LOT!! We think this may be a sign of some early teething coming up.. and we desperately hope that it's not!
* Put their hands in their mouths and suck on them if a pacifier isn't around. Sometimes they go ahead and jam their whole fist in there and then get this really ticked-off look when they gag themselves.
* Sleep a consistent 6 hours at night... often 7 hours. The record has been 7 1/2. Getting close to sleeping through the night!!
* Push up on forearms and look around during tummy time. Progress from just laying there and crying and/or sleeping!
* Hold head up, (although it's still a bit wobbly), and smile at people over Mommy or Daddy's shoulder. They love doing this..
* Make funny noises with their mouths like they're blowing a raspberry.
* Turn to Mommy and Daddy's voices when they hear them and track them from across the room.
* Scream like a banshee when the worst known tragedy in the world, (losing your pacifier), happens. Lucca's got this one down cold.
* Look at and occasionally smile at each other. Sweetest. Thing. Ever!!!!
That's all I can think of for now.. It just amazes me the things that they're already able to do for not even being that old!
Lucca y Mila cumplieron 4 meses el sabado pasado! El martes tuvimos la cita, (y las vacunas :P), de los 4 meses con la pediatra y todo esta perfecto con los bebes. Lucca esta pesando unos 7 kilos y Mila pesa un poco menos de 7 kilos... y tengo que agregar que eso es con amamantarlos exclusivamente! Nada de formula, nada de comida solida. Todavia me siento muy orgullosa de eso!!
Aqui esta una lista de algunas de las cosas que los bebes pueden hacer ahora:
* Sonreirse y a veces reirle a la gente que los mira. A veces se rien de la vida en general. Realmente saben apreciar las cosas diarias, como el panda de juguete que tienen. Parece que el es bastante gracioso.
* Alcanzar y ocasionalmente agarrar objetos a su alrededor, (sobre todo el pelo y los aretes de Mama y los pelos del pecho de Papa-- UFFFF!!). Gracias a la abuela Grammy, Mila ahora tiene una cobijita que le encanta! La tiene con ella siempre y aprovecho para avisarles que pueden comprar una igualita en el nuevo sitio de Grammy: http://www.grammystouch.com/ ! :)
* Babear MUCHISIMO!! Pensamos que quizas esto es una senal de que estan por salir los primeros dientes, pero esperamos que todavia no...
* Meter los deditos en la boca y chupetearselos si no hay chupete cerca. A veces se meten el puno entero en la boca y despues se enojan cuando se atragantan a si mismos.
* Dormir consistentemente unas 6 horas por noche.. muchas veces son 7. El record fue 7 1/2.. Estamos acercandonos a dormir toda la noche!!
* Levantar la cabecita mientras usan los bracitos para empujarse para arriba y mirar alrededor. Esto es un progreso enorme porque antes solo se quedaban tirados alli mientras lloraban y/o dormian!
* Mantener la cabecita recta, (aunque todavia se mueve un poquito), mientras le sonrien a la gente sobre el hombro de Mama o Papa. Les encanta hacer esto!
* Hacer ruidos graciosos con la boquita. :)
* Voltear hacia Mama y Papa cuando escuchan sus voces y despues seguirlos alrededor del cuarto.
* Gritar como degenerados cuando la peor tragedia del mundo (perderse el chupete) ocurre. Lucca ya es un experto en esta categoria.
* Mirarse y a veces sonreirse uno al otro. Es la cosa mas linda que hayas visto!!
Es todo que puedo recordar ahora.. Me impresiona la cantidad de cosas que ya pueden hacer por ser tan chiquitos todavia!!

Happy Birthday To Me!!/ Feliz Cumpleanios A Mi!!
Friday was my 30th birthday, and I couldn't have asked for a better birthday. I took the day off of school so that I could spend the day with my babies.. I'm so glad I did! Claudio, Mila, Lucca, Bobe, and I had a nice, low-key day topped off with dinner at Mandola's and a lovely chocolate mousse cake from the same bakery who did our wedding cake. Yummy!
Then, on Saturday Claudio and his mom surprised me with a 30th Birthday Party, (and a second birthday cake!!!), with some of our friends and family! It was a great time and I still don't know how they managed to pull off everything without me knowing. Here are some pictures from my birthday weekend..
Este viernes cumpli 30 anios y realmente no podria haber pedido tener mejor cumpleanios. No fui al trabajo para que pudiera pasar el dia con mis bebes y me siento muy feliz de haberlo hecho! Claudio, Mila, Lucca, Bobe y yo pasamos un dia muy lindo y tranquilo. Cenamos en Mandola's y comimos una riquisima torta de cumpleanios de mousse de chocolate que Claudio pidio de la misma panaderia que hizo nuestra torta para la boda. Que rico!!
Despues, el sabado Claudio y su mama me sorprendieron con una fiesta de cumpleanios, (y otra torta!!), con algunos de nuestros amigos y familiares! Fue super divertida y todavia no se como hicieron todo sin que yo supiera. Aqui estan algunas fotos del fin de semana de mi cumple...

The Twins are very advanced for their age.. They somehow got themselves dressed up, drove to the store, bought some roses, typed up and printed out a birthday sign, set the timer on the digital camera, and took this picture of themselves for my birthday! Needless to say, we're having them tested for the baby GT program. :)
Parece que los mellis son bastantes avanzados por solo tener 3 meses.. De alguna forma se vistieron solitos, manejaron hasta la floreria, compraron unas rosas, escribieron e imprimieron un cartel de cumpleanios para mi, prendieron el disparador automatico de la camara y sacaron esta foto de si mismos para mi cumpleanios! Vamos a hacerles pruebas para que entren en el programa avanzado de bebes. :)

Our First Trip!/ El Primer Viaje!
This past week was full of "firsts" for the babies. Claudio and I took them on their first trip-- to Wichita Falls to meet Aunt Allison, Uncle Seth, and Cousin Olivia for the first time. The twins were great little travelers! They made it through a six hour trip each way with minimal fussing and only one stop each time! Not bad at all..
It was so wonderful to pull in the driveway to my sister's house and see everyones' smiling faces! Allison and I hadn't seen each other since Christmas and had to celebrate the birth of our children on the phone instead of in person. It has been so incredibly hard to be so far apart during this exciting time and not even be able to meet each other's children for months! Finally we were able to hug each other, trade babies, and have a blast sharing all of their little quirks. It was hard though, to come to the realization that we are mothers now and therefore not able to do all of the things we would've done on a normal visit. As strange as it sounds, it had never dawned on me until our visit that the two of us wouldn't be able to run off to the movies or out to eat like before, and that was hard. I guess I just have to realize that we'll have a different sort of visits from now on..
I took over 80 pictures during our visit, so it was pretty hard narrowing it down to a few shots for the blog.. Here's a little taste!
La semana pasada llevamos a los bebes a Wichita Falls para su primer viaje. Fue la primera vez que conocieron a sus tios Allison y Seth y tambien a su primita Olivia. Parece que los mellis son buenos viajeros! Aguantaron un viaje de seis horas, (y despues seis mas en la vuelta), sin llorar mucho y solo tuvimos que parar una vez. Nada mal!
Fue tan bueno llegar por fin a la casa de mi hermana y ver a todas las caras sonrientes que nos esperaban. Allison y yo no nos habiamos visto desde la Navidad y tuvimos que celebrar el nacimiento de nuestros hijos por telefono en vez de en persona. Ha sido increiblemente dificil estar aparte durante este momento tan especial y nisiquiera poder conocer al hijo/ los hijos de la otra! Por fin nos pudimos abrazar, intercambiar los bebes, y compartir todos los truquitos de ellos. Sin embargo, fue dificil al darnos cuenta que ya somos mamas y por eso ya no podemos hacer todas las cosas que normalmente hubieramos hecho en una visita normal. Aunque parezca raro, antes de esta visita nunca me habia dado cuenta que las dos ya no ibamos a poder ir al cine o comer afuera juntas tan facilmente como antes. Supongo que tengo que darme cuenta que ahora vamos a tener otro tipo de visitas...
Saque mas de 80 fotos durante la visita, asi que fue dificil decidir cuales iba a poner en el blog.. Aqui estan algunas!
