Yesterday the babies turned one month old! It's hard for me to believe that it's only been one month since they were born-- it seems like a lot longer.. I passed the hospital where they were born yesterday and a flood of memories came back to me. It all seems like a blur now-- rushing to the emergency room after my water broke on Memorial Day, laboring for almost 24 hours with Claudio and my mom by my side encouraging me, pushing for over 2 hours, seeing Mila screaming like crazy as she came out, and then going through the longest 3 minutes of my life as the doctors worked on Lucca trying to get him to start breathing..
Then there was the week we spent in the hospital with the babies in the NICU. I still feel completely overwhelmed by the incredible nurses and doctors who worked with us during our stay. They not only took the best care of our sweet babies, but of us as well. Each time we dragged ourselves upstairs for a feeding they were waiting there for us with smiles and encouragement-- both of which we desperately needed during those first few scary days. They made it so much easier for us to leave our babies with them when all we wanted was to have them with us, and I'll be eternally grateful to them for that. Now when I look at my little angels one month later-- fat, happy, and healthy little things-- it's all just so amazing and unbelievable to me. Claudio and I have learned so much and survived through so much already, it's hard to imagine what the next few months will bring.. but I can't wait!

Ayer los bebes cumplieron un mes! Es dificil creer que solo ha pasado un mes.. parece mucho mas. Ayer pase por el hospital donde nacieron y me hizo acordar de muchas cosas. Todo parece borroso ahora.. cuando nos fuimos corriendo a la sala de emergencias despues de que empezo el parto, aguantandome casi 24 horas de parto con Claudio y mi mama a mi lado ayudandome y animandome, empujando por mas de 2 horas, viendo a Mila por primera vez cuando salio gritando como loca, y esperando por los 3 minutos mas largos de mi vida mientras los doctores ayudaron a que Lucca empezara a respirar.Y despues hubo que pasar una semana en el hospital con los bebes en el NICU. Todavia me siento increiblemente impresionada por los doctores y las enfermeras que trabajaron con nosotros mientras estuvimos alli. Ellos cuidaron tanto a nosotros como a nuestros preciosos bebes. Cada vez que subimos al octavo piso, muertos de sueno y agobiados por la situacion, estaban esperandonos con las sonrisas y palabras de animo que tanto nos hacian falta durante esos primeros dias espantosos. Lo hicieron mucho mas facil el hecho de tener que dejar a nuestros bebes con ellos cuando lo unico que queriamos fue tenerlos con nosotros y por eso estoy eternamente agradecida. Ahora cuando miro a mis dos angelitos-- gorditos, sanos, y felices-- todo me parece increible. Claudio y yo ya hemos aprendido tanto y sobrevivido una enorme cantidad de cosas durante este tiempo tan corto que ni me puedo imaginar lo que nos traera los proximos meses.. pero muy siento muy anxiosa ver que es lo que viene siguiente!
